Tudrope is a farming community located in Sankpala in the Northern region of Ghana. It is principally a Muslim community and is about 20 minutes’ drive from Tamale. In June 2022, Theovision established a Bible listening program in the Dagbani language in the community. About 20 adult’s ad 58 children participate in the Bible Listening program. Among them are 5 people who have openly confessed and received Jesus Christ as their Lord and personal Saviour.
Being a strong Muslim community, it was becoming more and more difficult for everyone to accept Jesus Christ as Lord. It was clear that the leaders needed a miracle to happen in order for God to be exalted in the community. And that is exactly what happened. Although Trudope is a farming community, they had not received rains for a long time. The community therefore challenged the leader of the Bible Listening Program to pray for his Gods to give them rains as a condition for joining the Bible listening program.
It was a difficult thing to ask since the leader was not sure whether God would answer the prayer or not. He was afraid of being ridiculed and mocked if the rains did not fall. But he remembered the story of Elijah and the prophets of Baal in the Bible and admonished himself that if God could send fire down from the heavens, then surely, he would send the rains! With this conviction, the group prayed for the rains to come down.
And oh, isn’t the Lord beautiful? That night the heavens opened and the rains came down in torrents. In display of the power and might of God to the amazement of everyone. The following evening, true to their word, the whole community joined the Bible listening group to thank the Lord for sending down the rains.
What a mighty God we serve!
