In the village of Likpe Abrane, situated in the Oti Region of Ghana, there resided a woman named Regina Mantey, aged 41, who was married and a mother of three children. Regina held the belief that alcohol consumption should be practiced in moderation, but unfortunately, she found herself unable to control her intake, leading her down the path of addiction over the course of five years. Regina’s addiction took a heavy toll on her life, making her struggle to fulfill her responsibilities as a wife and mother.
Regina shared her story, stating that she had initially started drinking in small quantities to stimulate her appetite. This dependence on alcohol became her source of happiness until she came across Theovision’s Bible Listening program in her community. In her drunk state one afternoon, she was approached by the missionary who came to the village to establish a Bible Listening Group for the people of Likpe Abrane in the Sekpele language, and that day began her transformation.
“From the day the Theovision missionary introduced me to the Audio Bible, I have been listening to the Sekpele Audio Bible. The words are easy to understand because it is in my heart language. I heard from the Scripture that “do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery instead be filled with the Holy Spirit” (Ephesians 5:18). My life has not been the same after that. Through prayer and counselling, I am now the leader of the Bible Listening Group; and I listen to the Audio Bible every morning. I thank God for the Audio Bible in Sekpele language”.
Regina’s transformation is akin to a shining star, and it is evident in her new found lifein Christ. As Daniel 12:3 states, “And those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky above, and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.”
